Many thanks to up-and-coming rock band Trelawney for recording their interpretation of my poem The Falcon to the Falconer on their debut album United Downs.
Jonathan is very much looking forward to participating in this year’s Torbay Poetry Festival, whose theme is “Poetry and Music.”
Of course I am only a machine
And full of natural frailty.
My tyres go soft,
My chain drops off,
My brake blocks wear out
Among the many roads we have to travel in this life,
Nothing prepares us for this:
The one we will one day travel every Sunday afternoon –
Or every Saturday afternoon,
Or even every evening –
I was delighted to have the opportunity to perform my song Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell on Mike Read’s BBC Radio Berkshire show on 15 January 2015. Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell is about Henry VI, who founded King’s College, Cambridge in 1441.
Jonathan is looking forward to being a guest of Mike Read once more on Thursday 15 January from 2:00–3:00 p.m on BBC Radio Berkshire. He will be performing live in the studio again.
On Thursday, 4 December 2014 Jonathan will be reading some of his poems at Heffers Bookshop, 20 Trinity St, City Centre, Cambridge CB2 1TY
Thus should love start, thus should love start:
A slow chill creeping on the heart
The moments when we meet
Alight like a bird on my hand
Do not love me too much, do not love me too much,
For there’s trust in my eye but there’s flight in my touch
